Frequently Asked Questions:

"How high will that thing go?"

36-feet, over-slung.  It's the biggest one in town but it takes 90 minutes to get it up.

                "How about a moderate length?"

Like 25-feet reaching, 32-feet high?  A good length for live stage shows, or for 35mm.

"I just need one little shot in the studio"

Six feet reaching, eleven high, ten foot total length from camera to counterweight.

               "What about a TelePrompTer?"

OK if it's a flat-screen LCD, no counterweight and no riser block.  14"is no problem.

The jib can provide 12V and coax return lines thru' the slip-rings to the 'prompter.  Let us

provide the equipment and operator to guarantee a good fit.

"How does the jib get there?"'

bullet You could pick it up.
bullet The operator could bring it in a van
bullet It could come on the Grip Truck, or on the Production (OB) Van.
bullet It could fly on a plane.  If you're smart as we think you are, you'll leave the weights home.

"I hear that the Jimmy Jib is better than the Cam Mate."

bullet The Cam Mate is structurally superior to the Stanton Jimmy Jib. Always has been.
bullet The Cam Mate has recently upgraded its electronics past Stanton's: 32 channel slip rings and       Triax Triax pass-thru'.

                "How much to deliver?"

For a Van: $45/day and .35/mile out of town.

"Can I put a 16mm camera on it?"

bullet It's easy. Use a lightweight matte box, primes or maybe a short zoom. Video assist a must!
bullet Add the wireless follow-focus/ camera start.

                "What about 35mm?"

bullet Great results: Arri 435, Arri III, MovieCam Compact, Panavision Gold. (535's too wide).
bullet Needs Video assist, gear tracks on the lenses.
bullet Use Prime lenses, not longer than 75mm.
bullet Best to use a light-weight matte box.
bullet 400 Foot Mags.
bullet Add the wireless focus.

"Can we put it on an insert car?"

We can hang the CamMate Remote Head and Electronics on a heavier arm, like the Enlouva or the Lenny or the Jimmy Fisher.

"How do we get it on track?"

Optional for the larger dolly are the world's finest track wheels and it runs on standard 24-1/2" folding track.  Best part is, we go on and off the track with the crane BUILT.

OR, Let's hire some good Grips and a Chapman dolly and do it like a team.

"Can we use it in the rain?"

If you twist our arms and pull our hair, we will shoot in the rain IF we can charge 3 or 4 hours the next day to take the covers off and dry it out and blow it out and get the rust off.  It's not pretty.

                "Can I have it shipped?"

Both JIbs are in flight cases and are ready to ship.  It's even possible to fly a 20-foot jib as excess baggage for very few $$$.

"Should we get an assistant for the CamMate?"

It goes faster with an experienced helper. Get the names from John.

"I don't like John, never have. Are there other operators?"

Yes, we have some other well-trained operators.
